The LOVE CONTRACT

Sophie Lin, a Brooklyn-born legal counsel at Hale Group, has spent five years working quietly while her mother awaits a kidney transplant. When insurance denies coverage, leaving a $500,000 gap, Sophie takes translation side jobs to survive. CEO Alexander Hale is trapped by a family trust clause: if he is not married by thirty-five, control passes to his uncle Victor. He offers Sophie a one-year romance contract worth $5 million. She negotiates every clause before signing and moves into the penthouse. Victor retaliates—stalling her mother's charity funding review, leaking the contract to the press, pressuring Sophie to sign a "disappearance agreement," manipulating Olivia Vanderbilt's $80 million mortgage, and even posting a hit on her. Meanwhile Olivia, Manhattan's top socialite, pushes a $1 billion dowry to force a marriage. Sophie dismantles each trap with professionalism and grit, and slowly uncovers Alexander's seven-year secret: she once gave him an umbrella on a stormy night, she saved his life—no, he saved hers in a car crash five years ago, and he has secretly funded her mother for three years. He wrapped every approach in transaction, never daring to say love. After Olivia discovers Victor's hidden asset-swallowing clause, she turns against him and joins Sophie. At the shareholders' meeting, old convenience-store footage and the crash film are revealed, Victor's forged check is exposed, and he is arrested by the FBI outside Hale Tower. On Alexander's thirty-fifth birthday, Sophie gives him a new umbrella; he hands her one final contract—a lifetime one: this contract permits falling in love. Penalty for breach: the one who proposes pays with a lifetime.
